- About Counselling & How I Work
I specialise in working with individuals to help them understand who they are and how they operate in their world and why. I like to work relationally so in my work I spend time talking to you about the relationships you have had in your life with significant people and how these relationships have affected you.
I also think it is important to work developmentally, looking back at how you developed from childhood into the adult you are today. Working in this way it is easy to find clues that help us to understand why we act and react the way we do to life in general and all that it throws at us. As a counsellor and psychotherapist I can help you to understand repeating patterns of behaviour, where they came from and how to change things moving forwards.
Your issues may be current and known to you or buried deep in your past. Either way we can uncover them, working together at a pace that is comfortable and safe for you. This can help to demystify why we act as we do, why we constantly repeat damaging patterns of behaviour and help us to find a way to change.
Understanding our own behaviour is the key to change - all you need is the motivation and desire to do so.
